VENEERING Yiley Ma

Veneering is simply a method for decorating the surface of one material with another exotic timber species which is an efficient way of using precious wood rather than a deceptive practice. Over the past few decades, wood veneering has been on upswing.

There are a number of methods applying veneer among which adhesive veneer and vacuum press look the most approachable for my practice in the workshop. The veneers can be arranged in different ways to achieve desired appearance. ‘Bookmatching’ is one of the popular arrangements for highly figured veneer. Additionally, iron on edging could be applied to solve another challenge on edge banding at the finale.
