The notion
of being in the wild is intrinsic to Emily Snadden’s design process. The
Central Highlands of Tasmania are her favourite place to visit, though it’s
essentially the feeling of being immersed in the wilderness when she feels most
inspired.
Collecting twigs,
leaves, flowers, lichen or anything that captures her eye, these specimens
become references for her designs, and often find a home in her Salamanca
studio.
She captures further
inspiring patterns and forms with photographs, which together with sketching,
let her become intimately acquainted with the attributable details of the
specimen that are subsequently integrated into her jewellery designs.
