The artist I researched was Patrick Hall. I was interested in his ideas and how they manifest in his work. An often-repeated element of his work is the incorporation of words to convey a story that infuses the artwork with particular energy and becomes part of the viewer’s interaction with the artwork.

I wanted to play around with that idea of infusing an artwork with an energy through a story.  What I have come up with are preparatory drawings for a future work. My aim was to work in clay and to stick to a plain composition of an object on a shelf and to then explore the ways of creating ‘slice-of-life’ stories. As part of the process I also explored ways to make the shelf a part of the artwork, rather than just the ‘holder’ of the objects.
