TASMANIAN OAK Aran Barne

Tasmanian Oak is a combination of three species of eucalypt native to Tasmania and more broadly Australia. It is a commonly available hardwood and is often sustainably sourced from managed forests. It is frequently used in furniture due to the excellent finish it produces and the ease in which it can be worked.

Duncan Meerding uses Tasmanian Oak in his ‘Propeller Light’ range and his ‘Tea Boxes’. In his ‘Propeller Lights’ he uses veneers to achieve the gentle curve of the petals. I am planning on using some similar veneers in the making of my pendant light for AT3.
