PAPER (ANALOG PHOTOGRAPHY) Jacob Herbert

Just the photographer and the camera - that is what I like most about analog photography. These days a huge part of photography is digitally manipulating photos in programs like photoshop and lightroom and taking away from what the world actually looks like.
With analog photography there is no seeing your photo until you have developed it, there is no screen on the back of the camera to see if the shot was good - just the photographer and what they see. Composition and subject matter become so important, as that is what ‘makes’ a photo rather than how well it is edited in post. It is such a raw and soulful type of photography.
The two photos were taken by me with a pinhole camera, which was a paint can with a pinhole and a piece of photo paper on the inside which was then processed in chemicals in a darkroom.
