Timber has been used throughout design. My chosen designer,
Brodie Neil works with timber regularly and this has inspired me to also design
in wood. The look of timber has a level of elegance to it, the material creates
an atmosphere as the shapes and natural patterns within the wood allows for an
appealing aesthetic. I have always had a strong attraction to wood more than
metal or ceramics. Wood is warm and inviting, unlike metal or ceramics. The way
that wood can be manipulated in the crafting process adds to the attractiveness
of the material, Brodie’s “Remix” bench seat is a great example of a process
that shows off the flexibility of wood.
